    Default Delta

FWIW. Some Delta guys I know said that they are hiring 700-800 mechanics. If its true then it will be the first time they've had a cattle call since spring 2001.

I the past, Delta had the highest starting pay of all legacy airlines. I remember AA guys complaining that first year Delta mechanics made more than fith year American. Anyway, it's ideal opportunity if you are young and like Atlanta. Their junior out stations suck.

Delta still trying to crack down on the OT in Atlanta? I know when my uncle forcefully took another position (flight attendant or no job) they had already been cracking down on the OT pretty hard and this was in the 90s during the mass layoff.

I think I make too much money to start over at the airlines.

It's hard to get a regular job anywhere once you've made too much money. Delta is a relatively good "airline" job. These were the highest aspiration of nearly every A&P for many years and still a good opportunity for a living wage. I spent a lot of time and money getting there and ultimately quit because of the horrible quality of life. The ones that stayed seem happy with it.

Yea, being from Atlanta I know alot of people that work at Delta, alot of people in my family and I just don't think it's for me.

I'd want to be on the line for sure if I did it. I'd go crazy in the MRO.

I make $85k salary for 3 days of work every week, and for the other 4 I can come in and bangout overtime at 1.5 times what my base rate would be if I was hourly (based on a 40/hr week). Needless to say I'm doing very well as I've only taken 1 day off in the past 4 months. Almost got my race truck done and I'm looking at buying a Shelby mustang. "Life" is good. Too good to take a paycut working at the airline, dealing with their BS and not being able to get the crazy OT I can at my current job.

Few more years of this and I'm either going to roll over to management or DOM of a corporate flight department. Already made crew chief.
